Applicants must comply with the following:
Applicants must have participated in the Wits Targeting Talent Programme.
Applicants must be black learners who are citizens of the Republic of South Africa by birth or descent.
Academic requirements: must have achieved a Bachelors pass in the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examination.
Provisional Acceptance: must have a provisional offer from WITS or UJ to study in the faculties of Science, Engineering or Commerce.
Completed forms: submit completed application forms, principal/educator forms (Forms A and B), copy of letter indicating provisional offer from the University of the Witwatersrand or University of Johannesburg, certified copies of your June scholastic reports and payslips of both parents or parent. In case parent (s) or guardian(s) are unemployed, a certified affidavit attesting to unemployment.
Learner motivation: applicant must submit a half-page motivation.
Applicants must qualify in terms of the means test set by NASFAS. To determine who qualifies for NSFAS, NASFAS takes into account the household income, the number of dependents in the household, and the family’s cost of living. Students with an annual household income of R160 000 or less will be eligible to apply. (The BPSA Education Foundation will consider these guidelines, among other things, in awarding the scholarships.)
